HAMDEN — The odds of winning the Connecticut Lotto Jackpot are more than 7 million to one.
One lucky person who came through Hamden probably doesn’t care about odds right now.
A lottery ticket worth $2.2 million was recently sold at Shell Hamden, located at 1994 Whitney Ave., lottery officials said in a release Wednesday.
A total of 6,511 winning tickets were sold for the Friday, April 24 Lotto jackpot drawing. One, matching the numbers 2-7-8-12-17-24, was worth $2.2 million or a lump sum value of $2.04 million.
“The Lotto jackpot is won by matching all six winning numbers drawn. A Lotto ticket costs $1 and players select six numbers between 1 and 44, or they can ask for a Lotto ‘Quick Pick’ to let the computer randomly pick their numbers,” officials said. “The overall odds of winning a Lotto prize are 1 in 39.3. Odds of winning the jackpot are approximately 1 in 7.1 million.”
The Shell station will receive a $10,000 commission for selling the lucky ticket, officials said.
