FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield fire officials responded Thursday afternoon to a ruptured gas line.
Emergency personnel were on scene about 1 p.m. in the 700 and 800 blocks of Sasco Hill Road after a construction crew broke the line while performing excavation, according to a Facebook post from the fire department. Homes that were occupied in the area were checked for flammable atmospheres and residents were asked to “protect in place,” but no evacuations were needed, fire officials said.
Southern Connecticut Gas arrived on scene quickly and controlled the hazard, according to the fire department. As of about 5 p.m., construction crews were restoring the line and fire personnel were clearing the scene.
