Police were called to a shooting at the gas station outside the Walmart in the 500 block of West Interstate 30, at Broadway Boulevard, just after 4:30 p.m.

Officers found a woman who was suffering from a gunshot wound. The woman, identified as 33-year-old Jessica Watkins, was taken to a hospital, where she died.

A witness told police that the woman was talking to people parked at the gas pumps. When the woman got to the last gas pump, the witness heard a gunshot and saw the woman fall to the ground.

Authorities were able to get the license plate number of the suspect vehicle, a white four-door Mazda, and linked it to 28-year-old Aaron Haas.

Authorities arrested Haas at a Rockwall home later Friday. He was booked into the Garland jail on a murder charge, and his bail has not been set.
