Melbourne police are investigating two incidents in which people over 65 were beaten at a gas station nearly two weeks ago.

No arrests have been made and authorities have not yet determined a motive for the attacks.

One of the victims, an 84-year-old Melbourne man, suffered a fractured jaw after he was approached and struck. “We have some video but it’s not very clear,” said Lt. Steven Sadoff of Melbourne Police Department.

The incident happened at about 11:30 a.m. April 22 at the BJ’s Wholesale Club gas pumps on Palm Bay Road, police report. 

The 84-year-old told police he was in his car about to get gas at BJs when he heard a woman cursing. Moments later he was punched in the jaw, the man told authorities.

A surveillance video captures the moments leading up to the attack when a man is seen running toward another pump, police report. The man also appeared to be a passenger in the woman’s car.

Information on the second attack was not immediately available.
